{02sept2011: lounging}

September already?! Where does the time go?!
Earlier this year our condo building had some repairs done to the first floor balconies (ours included - we're first floor but sitting over an open garage). We were told it'd be done in a couple months and we should have our balcony back by the start of summer. Well summer came and almost went and we finally got our balcony back last month.
During the repair time they blocked off our access (railings came down so they boarded up across the door) and Darwin was not happy about it. In the summer's she's gotten used to having her bed put on and laying out in the sun. As soon as the weather warmed up she would stand at the door to the balcony and just look out longingly. She'd look back at us, with a face that said "why can't I go out there? Hello, it's sunny out!" I think she even whined a few times wanting her sun lounging time.
Finally they refinished the deck, installed new railings and took down the 2x4's.
Someone couldn't be happier.

  1. Darwin,
We would have been unhappy about that situation too. You still have a month of good weather, so soak it up, sister!

  2. Hi Darwin, you're definitely a "sun dog". We're glad that you finally got your balcony back. I'm sure that your mom and dad were relieved :) and it's supposed to be nice this long weekend so we hope that the good weather extends far enough south to your home. Better get that SPF out.

  4. I can't believe they took your balcony away for the summer! Darwin just looks so happy now. Mr. B's favorite thing in the world is to sit on our deck. Even in the heat, we can't get him to come back inside. Sometimes we even wrap everything up, and put the tarp over Mr. B, and he still won't come inside!

  8. Hi Darwin, you look so relaxed and happy in the sun. Enjoy it while you can big fella. Mum says Danes are experts in relaxing in the sun, especially when they have a soft bed like yours. Take care and have a great weekend. No worries, and love, Stella

  11. Yeah! Glad you got your balcony back. Those silly construction people don't they know we need our sunshine?

If you can't get to your sunshine next time try this trick. While out for your potty time just plop down in a really sunny spot. If you roll around on your back it's the best way to get a tummy rub because the humans just can't resist the cuteness.

  15. Hi Darwin!
Sorry it could me so much time to come back and see you!

You know, I also live in a flat and I adore my balcony... I am on the second floor so this allows me to fully see all the road and I can monitor all my doggies friends!
When my humans stop me from going out (too many mosquitos they say) I am terribly sad...
so I can fully understand your sadness!
Glad to hear you can finally sunbathe again!
PS: can you believe that I'd rather stay on the balcony than in the garden? In the garden there are too many high fences and I cannot see as nicely as in the balcony...
Plus from the balcony I can decide if I stay out or go back to my soft bed you know... ;)

I now go and check what else you have been doing in these past weeks!!!

    Ciao Lucille

  18. I love the outside too, balcony or yard, I'm out there rain or shine! I'm glad you got your balcony back Darwin, you look very comfy on your bed.

BTW, your Olympic Peninsula trip looks like a lot of fun! We were making plans to go to Bainbridge island for a few nights, but then D-Guy found Quadra Island and said we'll do that first.
