Man I've been one lazy blogger!
We had a really fun weekend, but I'll tell you all about that in another post. Today we'll talk about what we did two weekends ago. You saw the pictures from Westcrest from Saturday where Darwin got to play with a lot of different dogs. Some dog owners can be so annoying... we were walking the loop at the park and this lady walking her little dog pulled her dog to the side and said "Oh, she scared of Great Danes" as she saw Darwin. We smiled and walked on by and when we got to the open play area of the park we saw her again (it's a loop, we'll just keep circling each other). She saw us and stopped, but this time her dog (who supposedly is so terrified of Great Danes) came up and sniffed Darwin's bottom and was totally fine with her. The owner quickly called her dog and they walked away. OI. Just because you may be uncomfortable with larger dogs, don't put it off as your dog has issues.
Anyway, on Sunday after watching the World Cup we went to Marymoor where we met the biggest Dane I've ever seen (if that dog - or her owner - was scared of Great Danes, they would've had a heart attack if they saw this big boy).
I don't know how he'd compare to Giant George (the world's biggest dog - a blue Dane too), but he was definitely bigger than any of the Danes we've met at Marymoor, or anywhere else for that matter. He was at least 6inches taller than Darwin. His back came up to at least my bellybutton. I didn't catch his name, but he's about 2 years old and 203lbs!
He seemed like a pretty nervous guy as his tail was constantly down and between his legs.
Poor guy. His mom said that he won't even use the bathroom anywhere except for their yard.
He did love the water though and we tried that day to refresh Darwin's memory of how much she used to love the water at Marymoor.
{pictures from last August}
Jason and I stood in the water for a good 15 minutes trying to lure her in, but she wouldn't leave the safety of the steps and stood at the edge whining for us to get out. When I reached raisin status we finally gave up and got out of the water where she was more than happy to greet us. I'm not giving up on her water baby status yet!

Too funny. She knows what she wants! (or don't want....) ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI think Darwin is showing her Siberian side!

There is a woman in our neighborhood who will see us and say "oh, my dog doesn't have shots" just because she doesn't want to associate with our dogs, then within earshot she'll ask other people to meet their dogs. Once we even heard someone say "I thought your dog didn't have shots" and she's like "oh, that's not true". We don't have our dogs play on walks amyway, but it's frustrating when people lie to your face. I like that picture of the biggest Dane, ever!
ReplyDeletewowza! Not only is that a tall Great Dane, that's a fat Great Dane! And I don't mean PHAT! :)
ReplyDeleteHe's so beautiful, but it always makes Mom sad to see dogs (especially Danes) overweight like that. They are big enough as it is and its so hard on their joints and heart to carry around that extra weight. Darwin is much more beautiful with her trim and slim body!
wags, wiggles & slobbers
Murphydog

Kissslobbers

I bought Remi a kiddie pool when it got hot, but he wouldn't go in it. Just drank the water like, "Cool! Look at this humongous water bowl!"
ReplyDeleteThat is one big blue boy! Hehe but not as handsome as me (jasper) :p And definately not as pretty as you Darwin!
ReplyDeleteWe get people being frightened of us as well...hehe silly people, if they only knew!
Licks and lots of slobber,
Lexi and Jasper the Danes
That is one big dane! Looks a little bit fat to us, but it's probably because we're used to skinny danes that can't put on weight!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun day!
Wuv,
Gus and Waldo
I feel for ya Dar. I am "supposed" to be a waterdog, but won't go in over my knees. Not even for my beloved ball!! Ah well, we can't all be water babies.

I don't think I'd like the water at all. It's too much like a b-a-t-h! I do like to pounce sprinkler heads, though! :)
