{8july2010: Weekend Review Part 3}

Sunday being Independence Day in America, we knew we needed to tire Darwin out before the big fireworks show over Lake Union that started at 10pm.  We planned to meet up with Darwin's brother, Boo, at Marymoor to wear the dogs down.
It's funny how Dane's seem to recognize each other.  If Darwin sees a Dane at a park she is quick to run up and say hi.  When Darwin sees her brother at the park she gets even more excited!  Kristie brought some toys for Boo and his brother Gino (labradoodle) to play with and Darwin was quick to make a game of tug with them.

There was a 5month old blue Dane, Misha, at the park when we got there and she hung out with us most of the time.  She even tried to get in on the game of tug.

Darwin was so funny, if Boo stopped pulling, she'd follow him around and shove the toy in his face trying to get him to rejoin the fun.

After Boo and Gino left we did a lap around the park and ended up running into the rest of the Dane group.
{Frankie, Piper, Darwin and Bella}

It's been such a rainy spring/summer all the grass at the park is super tall!  All the Danes LOVE romping through the tall grasses.  How many Danes can you spot in this picture?

Darwin even got some good bitey face time in with Misha.

We all noticed some segregated playing too... blues and merles.

After a couple hours at the park with some good play time we took Darwin home for a bath and to settle down for the nights fireworks!

    I love that you got to meet up with so many other Danes, Darwin. We Sibes seem to know other Sibes, too. Isn't that funny?

  8. You danes know how to party. No wonder you were tired. Me? I kind of don't really like other giant dogs. They are scary. Momma says I am small in my brain.

  10. Wow, so beautiful. I am continually amazed at how many Danes are actually hiding away in our big cities.

    We are in Chicago and just starting raising a 14 week old black Dane pup. She's growing up alongside a 16 week old golden retriever. It's a lovable, frustrating, messy adventure.

    Anyway, we were glad to stumble upon your blog and will be back to watch Darwin even more.

  11. I wonder if all breeds recognize themselves? Mine like to see all sorts of dogs, but go crazy for any Nordic breed and absolutely bonkers when they see another Sibe.
