{27may2011: SLO}

Last month we spent the weekend in San Luis Obispo, CA for my cousin's wedding (that was when Darwin had her sleepover and her brother Boo's house).
I always find it hard being away from Darwin, even for the weekend. But there were a lot of other things to keep us distracted.
Things like:

In-n-out burgers animal style (that's Charlotte the chickpea in the background)
My cousin's dogs Kava and Pele. (Remember how small they were!) That's Kava giving me love.
One morning we woke up and the sidewalks outside the hotel were covered with these snails.
My uncle took Jason and I wine tasting at a couple wineries and this was the shop dog. So cute!
The winery also had peacocks! They said they had about 80 and it was mating season so they'd probably get 20 or so more babies. You could buy a bag of food and feed the peacocks. They said there were a few birds that would actually eat out of your hand... I didn't run into any.
And the cutest distraction, my nephew!
As you can see there was lots to keep us entertained!

  1. Your nephew is so cute!! Sounds & looks like a great trip. Kava & Pete beautiful. That's a lot of Peacocks in one place.Darwin had a vacation too - visiting his brother. Sure he missed you too. Thanks for sharing.

  2. OMD OMD OMD!!! Those juicy cheeseburgers & fries slathered with sauce are making me drool uncontrollably! Whenever I see awesome food such as that, I become a zombie dog. Lots & I mean LOTS of drool & foam will be all over my mouth. TEE HEE

Looked like you had a fantastic weekend! Those dogs are beautiful & that little boy is so cute!

  3. I loved seeing all your "distractions". I've never had the pleasure of an IN n OUT burger in my life; I think I need to go out west more often. Love the dogs and your nephew, I wonder why peacocks are never scared of people?

  4. Yeaaaaah ! Looks like you had a great time! I love the hamburgers and fries pictures, yum yum. My humans would not let me taste it though :-( They say it's not in the computer, only on the pic, but I don't get it .... How can I see it and not touch it, eat it ?!!

Anyway, big hugs to Darwin, she must have had a great time too :-)

ps : very VERY cute human pup !

  5. mmmm In n Out burger :)

  6. I'd sure love a bite of that burger, then to chase your nephew around! He looks like a fun little biped!
All the pups are really cool - but Kava and Pele are the COOLEST!
    Play bows,

  7. Mom is soooo jealous! She went to Cal Poly, SLO for her degree. Not quite as cool of a degree as CGC, but I don't tell her that.

Its still one of her favorite places!

    wags, wiggles & slobbers

  8. My hoomans have never had an In&Out Burger but we have heard of them. I don't think there are any of them out here in the midwest. What is on those fries? I see the cheese and what appears to be chili but what the heck is that other sauce?

I'm glad you had a great time with the family and at the wedding.

  9. Looks like such a fun trip! And those burgers look soooo good! Making me hungry!

  10. Those burgers look really delicious...
Every now and than it is such a joy to forget about diets, isn't it?
I can perfectly understand what you mean about going away without your Darwin...
    You feel lonely... and worried...
Same here... Wish we could take her anywhere... But it is not always the case...sigh...
    Ciao Lucille
