{10jan2011: Christmas goodies}

Darwin made out well this Christmas.  Besides the free treats from All The Best that I regifted and wrapped, Darwin got a lot of other great goodies.

Since we were going on vacation and would be missing Christmas day with Darwin, we opened gifts early (as early as I would let Jason) and Darwin had a hand (or mouth) at opening her own gifts.
Remi sent her a package she couldn't wait to get into.

{bully sticks!!! my favorite (that my mom and dad don't even get for me)!!!}

Thanks Remi!
Yes, we're awful mean doggy parents and don't buy Darwin bully sticks very often, but we can't handle the stink!  We're going to have to try the stink free ones Twinkie recommended.

{roaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrr!!!}
While we were visiting Jason's family Darwin got more gifts from her grandparents.
Her own personalized tote bag and pillow.  I love the tote bag I must say.

Starbarks!  So cute!  And it barks!  Well, it used to bark until Darwin de-barked it.
We had a white elephant gift exchange and I won Rudolph the red nosed reindeer for Darwin.  Instead of hard plastic eyes, he had a hard plastic nose, and now Rudolph is the noseless reindeer.
We thought Christmas was past, but last week Darwin received another gift, this time from Remi's sister, Nala!
And look at the goodies!  Another bully stick!  And a flying squirrel!

Thanks Nala!
All the bully sticks have been consumed and 90% of the stuffed toys have been at least partly destuffed.  The squirrel is the last toy standing!

{18mar2010: Sorry Nala!}

Bed rest must be getting to Darwin.  While she's been pretty good about not being a total nut and actually has been pretty mellow since last week, she must have some pent up energy that she needs to get out somehow.
Too bad she's decided to take it out on her new toy she just got from Nala.
This was the toy Tuesday night:
Cute pink intact piggy.
Darwin loved it!  She's been playing with it non-stop.
This morning I woke up to a mess in the living room.... no not a poop mess, but a pink pig mess!
Darwin's hate of eyeballs in new toys struck again!  This time with a vengence.
Poor piggy:
{must remove the eyeballs!}
{is there something on my face?}
{mom, but look how cute i look and it makes my back feel better... really...}
Sorry Nala!  She thoroughly enjoyed the gift!

{16mar2010: oh crap}

Literally.
(skip the next paragraph if you're not up for a poop story)
We came home from work today and as we approached the door Jason said, "why does it smell like poop?".  I told him to keep his voice down in case it's the neighbors cooking.  We walked in and what did we find?  Poop... 2 piles in the kitchen.  Seems like the Rimadyl was making her have diarrhea.  Gross.  At least she did it on the tile floor and not on the carpet in the living room.  I took her out again where more poop came out, this time with a little blood in it.  So we called the vet to tell them about the diarrhea and the blood, and they told us to stop the Rimadyl, bring in a stool sample and they'll switch her medication.  Hopefully her fecal float test comes back negative for any worms or any other problems, we'll hear from them in the morning.  Oi.
So Dar is on Tramadol (still) and she now has to start taking Metronidazole.
We're still hoping her walk will stop looking so gimpy and the W word will be ruled out.

In less poopy news, I must say our blogging friends are the best!  Besides all the fingers and paws that are crossed for Dar and the well wishes coming our way, our blog friend Nala sent Darwin a get well gift!
Darwin was quite eager to get at what was inside.
A piggy bottle buddy, Zukes treats and a sweet card!  I was trying to take pictures, but Darwin really wanted to play with her new toy...
 {ooooh, I love it, I love it}

Thank you Nala and Amber!  Hopefully Darwin will heal up soon and be able to have a play date the next time you guys are back in Seattle!!

{15feb2010: weekend review part 2}

After Friday night's activities, Darwin was pretty slow to start the day Saturday, but Jason did get her up and convinced her to go for a walk with him to pick up flowers for me (aww), coffee for him, and donuts for the two of us.  She was so well behaved picking up flowers they guy working at the flower stand gave her a treat!
All that walking wore her out and she rested on the couch all morning til I dragged her out and into the car.  We drove and drove and when I let her out of the car she could smell something was up.  Soon we came to an area and guess who was there.... Remi and his sister Nala!!!
Last weekend at Darwin's birthday party, Remi came to celebrate, but with all the chaos that was the reunion, they hardly got to play.  Nala's family was driving over from their house over on the East side and we were able to schedule a playdate/meet blog buddy session!
Here are some pictures from the event:

 There was something under this bush that all three dogs couldn't get enough of.  Took a while before they stopped sniffing to go and run!

{Remi looks like a bunny in this picture!}
Darwin had a great time chasing Remi around til she slipped on the wet grass and ended up doing the splits and hurting her back leg.  After a while she shook it off and was right back in there with the other two.

On Sunday we did our usual routine of heading over to Marymoor for the Great Dane convention.  We ran into Darwin's buddy Winston who loves playing with the danes.

We also ran into the dane/lab mix we met before, I think his name is Clive.  Darwin had fun chasing him with his toy again.

He was really funny and would run and jump over the fence to get away from Darwin who was too scared to jump over after him.  Then he'd jump back over and let her chase him and then jump back over the fence.

Very full weekend with lots of doggy friends!
