{15mar2010: update2}

Call from the vet at lunch today... not great news.  Radiologist confirmed compressed disks on Darwin's spine (T-12 and T-13) and being that she's still walking funny (we're starting to call her gimpy butt) our vet recommends we go in for a consult with a neurologist to see if he thinks she needs an MRI and if it could be Wobblers (**shudder**).  I'm really hoping it's not Wobblers and just out of line disks that can be fixed by rest, acupuncture or a chiropractor.  Ugh.  I'm waiting for a call back from the neurologist's office to see when we can get in to see the doc.  We'll keep you posted.

To wrap things up on a more positive note here's a couple pictures from Jason and my vacation:
Bayon Temple - Siem Reap, Cambodia

  1. I'm so sorry! Will be keeping fingers and paws crossed that it isn't Wobbler's.

    If it is, you may already have heard of gold bead implantation as a treatment, but I know of 2 Danes over the past 6 or 8 years who have benefited greatly from it.

  2. Oh No! That is worrisome. We will cross our fingers, toes and paws that it is not the dreaded wobblers. It just seems like a coincidence that it happened after she had been rough housing with other pups for 2(?)weeks and so we are going to remain optomistic that she just knocked something seriously out of whack. Hope the neurologist has good news keep keeping us posted!

  7. Oh Darwin, lots of kisses and love from us! We hope it is not Wobblers...that doesn't sound fun. It does seem like it just happened after your stay and rough playing with the family so hopefully it can be fixed and is nothing more than a misalignment.

    Thinking of you,
    Amber & Nala

  8. Good luck with your diagnosis. We were just writing about how sometimes vets overreact just to make sure everything's ok...hopefully that's the case. Your trip looks amazing!

  12. Sorry for the call, but hoping that the next visit helps to pinpoint the problem and, more importantly, the treatment.

  13. Oh noes! If it's wobbler's, I've heard that gold bead implantation is a good option. I researched that before getting Duchess, then made sure that her insurance would cover it (can you tell I'm a little OCD?)

    So sorry you guys are going through this. Such a difficult thing.
